Boats Europe Village

I love the tethered boats in morning light, where changing tide meets the creek, that flows into the North Sea. Colorful old stone buildings and foot bridge add to the whole composition. Legend has it that these villages had a history of "piracy" along the North Sea @ the 16th century. Villagers lured and passing ships onto the rocks at night by waving lanterns from the shore.

They looted the shipwrecks and were "able to pass a bale of silk" from the bottom of the village to the top without it ever leaving a building. When the Crown caught onto the piracy and tried to "tax" the villagers, revenuers were met with boiling water poured from windows to the steep narrow streets.
