Autumn Sunrise, Kings Beach

North Lake Tahoe has the deepest water (at over 1600') on the second largest alpine lake in the world. The lake includes two states, California and Nevada, with The Nevada border located just east, exactly where the bright sun is reflecting off the distant water in my painting at Kings Beach.

This early October sunrise gave a surprise of the first snow on the distant peaks. Considering the 6200' altitude, not a huge surprise. Crisp, clear, cold atmosphere after the clouds cleared away, gave a summer feel, but with winter snows coming soon.
