Painted en plein air from the bluffs above the peaceful village of Eastsound, on the 20th anniversary of the horrific foreign terrorist attacks "9/11" that forever changed the whole world.
As I worked, I thought of the significant time and date in recent history. The sun was filtered through drifting layers of smoke from forest fires all around the Pacific NW creating an ethereal color combination that I described as "Confectioners Candy" in my FB posts. It's far from that sweet alliteration though as threats to our democracy now come from within!
I feel blessed to live and work in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. May all the peaceful villages, towns and cities around the world never forget 9/11 and stand with me on these bluffs above Eastsound, with a song in the heart.
