Another field of harvested hay in rectangle bales ready for storage on a Lopez farm (mid island) painted plein air mid-day, July 26, 2012.
Hay bales and barns with horse trailers or tractors and fence posts leading the eye around the scene are part of my painter's DNA. As a child, I spent hundreds of dreamy hours hanging around that very stuff at my grandparents farm just outside Boise, Idaho and am forever grateful I have found so many of these special places right here on Lopez Island . . . may these rural bastions of peace, tranquility and solitude last forever! Every-time I look at a barn, I think about what's in there.
