Morning Sun Shadows

Painted en plein air at daybreak on Lopez Island in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. This field faces south to the distant Olympic Mountains, across the Straits of Juan de Fuca, which provide cool atmospheric marine layers to contrast nicely with the warm, bright sun struck colors of the foreground.

I love how simple hay bales can take-on an animated  life of their own.
