Morning Sun Shadows
Painted at the fields just below Union Cemetery and Center Church on Lopez Island with a marine layer over the distant Straits of Juna de Fuca below the Olympic Mountains. The distant blues together with marine layers in early morning light gave this field an exciting warm contrast so typical in the San Juan Islands.
I like that a hay bale can create a living presence and soulful rhythm from the place it came, in warm summer light.
This painting was selected for the "Top 100" in the Plein Air Salon, (Plein Air Magazine) June competition out of 834 entries from 29 countries.
