Ghost Dock, Richardson
Sold
Painted en plein air at the old historic Richardson General Store location on the south end of Lopez Island, in mid summer with California Poppies the only reminder that a great old general store used to be there. The building had creaky wooden floors and was built out over the water between the rocks in the foreground and that fuel dock. You could buy anything there from Levis, fishing gear, fresh bakery items and canned food to ice cream cones. It was the only commercial store on the south end of Lopez Island steeped in history until it burned down in the late 1980's. Read this excellent account by Ken and Sue Shaw's daughter, Linda, a Seattle Times writer published after the fire. https://archive.seattletimes.com/archive/?date=19920628&slug=1499457
