The view from this iconic restaurant & lodge on the Truckee River, (Highway 89, between Tahoe City and Squaw Valley) that was built in 1888, as the Deer Park Lodge. The original structure was abandoned and rebuilt in 1950 as the River Ranch Lodge, initially operating as a tennis camp. It later served as a headquarters for foreign diplomats during the 1960 Olympics and has since undergone continuous renovation to become the lodge and restaurant it is today.

Some places never die, but gain new life . . .  just like the river that reflects warm light from the autumn colors.
