November Sunrise over Thatcher Pass

Winter sun angles provide the a soft warm glow at both ends of the day. This was painted from my home on Swifts Bay, Lopez Island, looking straight east over Flower Island to Thatcher Pass, then over Blakely Island to the Cascade Mountains 50 miles is the distance barely visible. Winter light also gives time for pause and to collect thoughts about what makes the San Juan Islands an extra special place to live and paint.

Not a day goes by that I don't thank my lucky stars to be here amidst such beauty.
