The distant Vlatava River (which has 19 bridges just in the city of Prague) provided a bright reflective contrast to the old city, as viewed from the castle, which has stood for more than 1200 years.
The castle was started in 870, as a fort and then built over many centuries, rebuilt, semi-destroyed by wars, fires and the ravages of time. Undeniably, one of the best views of the entire old city is from this spot where I took my reference photos to paint. It's hard not to think about "history" when you visit and I emphasize that old world quality in my painting.
