"Rocky R" Barn and Olympics in May

This field sweeps down to Davis Bay on Lopez Island and enjoys one of the most spectacular views over the Straits of Juan De Fuca to the distant Olympic Mountains, I have ever seen. The quietude here never fails to amaze me, almost as much as the sheer beauty of this place. Having been raised in Idaho, with a reverence for barns, they are second only to water-in-motion as my preferred painting subjects. This one, belonging to Dick and Kathy Lea, (Rocky R Ranch) has been around for more than a century!
