Fire in the Water
Painted en plein air along the Boise River, when a huge wild fire about 130 miles north (Lowman, Idaho) blanketed the skies of southern Idaho giving everything an acrid orange-yellow glow. I was born and raised in Boise and had never, ever seen the atmosphere like this. Even the water looked "on-fire" that week. This painting was selected as top 50 Finalists landscape paintings for "The Artists' Magazine" annual competition in 2017 (out of 7,100 entries from 20 countries worldwide) and was published in the January 2018 edition. To me, another day at the office. exploring the effects of light, water-in-motion and painting at a river I have know and loved my whole life. Working on-site definitely gives a painting a life of its own! It is available on the awards & honors wall at Windswept Fine Art Gallery
