Multi award winning landscape drawing done with a ball point pen on watercolor paper, en plein air  (on-site) in 1978, in the Kittitas Valley between Ellensburg and Kittitas, Washington. I spent 2 full weeks working on this, every day between 10-2 to capture the same light effects, using old watercolor wash techniques of negative space and light strokes with the ball point pen to simulate the atmosphere in B&W.

Large scale for a "drawing" the first juror's comments when it won Best of Show at the Ellensburg Fair and Rodeo Juried Competition in 1979 was "I was shocked and quite amazed to encounter a large scale landscape piece, made with only a ball point pen, that made me feel like I could walk into it". It was exactly what I intended to do - put the viewer directly into my landscape.

It has since won many major awards & recognition in international level juried fine art competitions, including Plein Air Magazine, The Artists' Magazine, Drawing Magazine and Artisspectrum Magazine, Chelsea, NYC and was published in North light Books "Strokes of Genius" 2016.

The original is in the artists permanent collection. Ltd, edition Giclee prints are available at $750.
