Rainbow Rider

This small old gill net fishing boat spent its last years "put-away" in a large field on the north-end of Lopez Island. It was half buried in blackberry bushes and nosed into a pond, which provided some very nice reflections. The property also houses "Martha" (see my painting "Martha's Last Stand") a 42' cruiser that was built around 1940 and has fallen into unusable condition and that I painted two days before. I have driven past both these boats for decades, thinking "Well, I better get in there and try to paint them before they're gone." They will be gone (crunched) in just a matter of days, as the property owner, Stephanie Vallejo is cleaning and clearing the place for her new home and business located there. She is also the owner of both original paintings!
