Summer Harvest, Rocky R Ranch, 7/9/22

Don Burt and his wife, Le Ann were harvesting hay bales at the Rocky R Ranch when I painted this. He is the great grandson of Don Burt Sr., who built this iconic old barn overlooking Davis Bay and the Straits of Juan de Fuca in 1905!

This view is in constant motion with light and atmospheric energy that draws me back like a magnet. I love talking "farming" with Don and his wife whenever we meet in the field. I am also forever grateful to Dick and Kathy Lea, property owners of this large expanse for keeping a family trust that will forever preserve this incredible area!
