Resting Under Evening Skies

This as painted at Lopez Village, near the new post office building in late afternoon light, en plein air. It was awarded "Best of Show" in the Northwest Pastel Society's International juried Exhibit at American Art Company in 2012, by Duane Wakeham, juror. I knew from the minute I started to work on this one, that all of my senses were coming into play to nail that warm, late summer light effect against the far distant water from San Juan Channel. Hay bales? Who would've thought something so simple could become so special, with a mood all of their own!
