About this work

These ethereal layers of marine atmosphere aorund the San Juan Islands, pull me in like a vortex, whenever the weather provides them. This was painted from the beach at Port Stanley, July 7, 2021. No two mornings are ever exactly alike (sun positions, fog layer movement, etc.) but always provide incredible atmosphere, year-round! All of this is made even better by distant ferry boats honking their horns to signal positions in the fog. It sounds like a bass chorus of Tubas warming-up for concert.
